Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers rave about the crispy batter that coats the perfectly cooked fish, ensuring every bite is satisfying. The chunky chips, golden on the outside and fluffy on the inside, always receive high praise.

The friendly service is another highlight; staff members are noted for their cheerful disposition and ability to create light-hearted conversation, making diners feel immediately at home. The cleanliness of the premises also stands out, as many visitors appreciate the attention to health and safety standards.

Finally, the affordability of the menu, with many meals priced under £10, continues to draw in patrons, solidifying Newtown Fish Bar's place as a beloved local staple.

Most Disliked

While many enjoy the meals, a few visitors have noted occasional waits during peak hours. Thursdays, especially during the dinner rush, can see longer wait times, which some find inconvenient when they're hungry for their fish and chips.

Some diners have expressed a desire for more diversity in dish options, especially those looking for something beyond traditional offerings like fish, chips, and sausages. While the restaurant excels in its main offerings, it may not cater to every taste or culinary preference.

Lastly, as it primarily serves takeaway, those seeking a more traditional sit-down restaurant experience might find it a bit lacking in ambiance compared to establishments with full dining services.

First Time coming to this place as I have moved round the corner the staff here are absolutely lovely. Give you service with a smile and are always nice and polite. They even make a decent conversation with you. Make you feel more welcome. The food service is absolutely brilliant. it’s very cheap to order food the gravy was nice and thick the chips freshly cooked and very nice and thick. They even saved extra large sausages which were crispy and delicious. I would also point out the place is immaculately clean and they are spot-on with health and safety.

Best Fish and chips we have had since moving to St helens, chips were actually golden and crispy, fish was lovely battered just right, and cooked fresh. Even the mushy peas were fab, will definitely go back.

Went in for a lunchtime treat of two large fish and chips.. It was the nicest fish I've eaten in ages.. Crispy batter and very fresh fish. I've paid a lot more than I paid today, for soggy batter, and a handful of chips The staff are very pleasant and polite I would recommend Newtown Fish Bar . A well deserved 5 stars
